Gibbous Selene
Figure Abstraction. Soapstone. 1998.
This little figure was completed in the dead of winter in Montana, while calving out my father's Black Angus herd. I sculpted her during my night shift, sitting by the wood burning stove, with the Northern Lights waving milky fingers at the snow-bound northern horizon, the 40 below zero cold crushing ever inward.
The dark soapstone was aquired on a trip to Alaska in 1991.
