Slurry Spreader
2012. Interpretations of road-surfacing machinery in steel, granite, marble, slate and wood.

This private commission was created for a road resurfacing company, as a present from their parent organization. The two machines reference the slurry spreader and a dump truck as they create a new expanse of shiny black highway. The base form of a vintage lumber cart references a steam-punk ideal in the aesthetic of the interpreted forms.
The dump truck holds a load of granite weighing a few hundred pounds, and the slurry spreader holds six different grits of crushed granite. The stone was added at the final installation on-site.
The month long process of creating the Slurry Spreader are at http://dangerhart.wordpress.com/category/granite-2/.
