This edition of Woman With Heavy Ball is cast in bronze. I completed all production work save for the rough-casting, where the foundry cuts the wax figure apart, invests it in ceramic shell, melts out the wax and vitrifies the mold, pours the bronze, shatters the mold, and gives me the figure in pieces. This is the only heavy industry step, and requires a foundry. I often cast my own pieces and public art commission, using the old sand/plaster investment method, but this figure was poured at a professional foundry. I then weld and chase, re-sculpting weld lines and imperfections, and finish out the figure myself.
